## What it does.

Asking to spend company money, with the amount deciding how far the request travels. Small things stop at a manager; larger ones carry on to finance and then to management. Nobody approves their own, and what was actually bought is recorded next to what was asked for, which is rarely the same number.

-   REQUEST What is wanted, in line items, with the quotes that priced them
-   ROUTING The amount decides the approvers, so nobody has to know the policy
-   SEPARATION Approving your own request is refused rather than discouraged
-   TRAIL The decision trail is written by the approvals themselves, not by hand
-   ACTUAL What was really bought, recorded against what was estimated
